Note: Old servers with /sv_pure 0 and with a map online like same map_name as in 088-pack (for example: oasago2, oa_ctf4ish) aren't 100% compatibel with this patch.

INSTALLING
------------------

   To install the patch, simply extract the archive to your OpenArena 0.8.1 or 0.8.5 folder.
   Overwrite all files it asks to.


   The "deprecated" engine is not updated in this release. Windows 98/ME users will need to install
KernelEx to run the game. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. We tried to maintain older OS
support :/

VIDEO PROBLEMS

   It has been discovered that 3dfx Voodoo Graphics, and Voodoo2 3d accellerators
   no longer work with OpenArena.

   Voodoo Banshee, Voodoo3, Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 are unaffected, and should still function properly.

   It is recommended to use a recent MesaFX GL wrapper for 3dfx hardware.

   - Fixed TEAMMATE kill message bug.
   - Prevent team changing and disconnect from changing team score in Team Deathmatch.
   - Don't let vampire resurrect dead players.
   - Now uses FFA spawnpoints in domination.
   - Workaround for Kamikaze bug.
   - g_autonextmap added ("Auto change level" in the menu). Randomly picks a new map once the current map has ended. The maps allowed for each gametype are configurable.
   - You can now see how much health the obelisk have left in Overload
   - Autoswitch weapon can now be set to only change to better or new weapons.
   - Chat beep can be disabled in options.
   - Changed default customvotefile to customvote.cfg.

   - Added the possibility for spawning in waves. The cvar g_respawntime says how often players should spawn.
   - Added a CVAR g_voteBan X - bans a player for X minutes using the KK-admin system
   - Added g_gravityModifier (default 1.0) that modifies g_gravity relatively to the value set by the map.
   - Additional dmflags. Most notably "Fast weapon switch" and "No self damage".
   - Added a CVAR g_damageModifier to modify damage of all weapons and triggers.
   - Added replace_* cvars like disable_*. Can be used like "set replace_weapon_shotgun weapon_bfg" for replacing shutgun by BFG.

   - Handicap is reset to 100 once returned to the main menu. It is no longer changeable thorugh the GUI to prevent new players from hurting themself.
   - Added "Click to respawn"-message. Tells the player how long until they are allowed to respawn. Very relevant for wave spawning.

   ==ENGINE==


   - New specular code, r_specmode 1 to enable

   - New environment map code, r_envmode 1 to enable

   - Cascaded bloom, which is more 'natural', and is much faster on lower end hardware
      r_bloom_cascade 1 to enable

   - Support for GLSL shaders!
   
   - Bloom is not allowed if we don't have 32-bit color for textures. This stops the user from playing with corrupt bloom in 16-bit color since the bloom code doesn't really support that yet.

Just an info, that's still maybe not the final release, don't give up your 085 version atm, servers won't be updated right now i guess, and there might be a few changes on this patch.

And to any mac users, if you got problems using the patch, you can contact me and i'll help you to get it working Wink

I have found a bug, using oawire, firefox extension to open openarena by dpmaster server list... it's a bit buggy if abused with more clicks than normal, as I do usually I am freaky and abuser! bounce geek lol! rofl!
But it exists, it's a real bug and I can clip it.

Now it seems to 99,9% that this is the official patch. I think (!) they wait for official release on OA.ws because they want to do 0.81+0.85+0.88 all in one package, so that it is easier for newcomers to instal.
There are also 2 servers online where you can test 0.88 and specific for a lot of players: AS*Clanarena works with it, but only oasgao2 and oa_ctf4ish @ROFL-servers doesn't work really because they are unpure and 0.85. EDIT: ROFL-Servers are 0.88, too now!!!!

Update: (look on top) Added full version of OA for newcomers. If you have already 0.81+0.85, then download only the patch.

install ? What do you mean ... sorry linux never install need for all software ...

I copy file of version 088 in folder just saturday, it's all ok, full funcionally.

There are differenze in ROFL all rocket, when use rocket jump, life it's safe now.

I spoke with Cacatoes in ROFL all Rocket, some difference but few he tell me, but i see difference in physics for different player in relation ping. I see killed player delayed by my time, they appear killed after some seconds ... boh .. or not dead ...

My mistake ? I see shadow in my mind ? Perha.....

I think this two points are modifications that Cacatoes did, it is not because of 0.88 !

Probabilmente è una server side mod.
Server side mod= ???
Allora, le mod sono di due tipi: totali modificazioni, cioè che vanno a tocciare dentro il gioco stesso, mentre le server side mod sfruttano il codice del meccanismo Client-Server.
Sono molto facili da fare e su Urban Terror sono molto comuni (dato che quegli scemi della frozen sand hanno trovato un cavillo nella licenza di ioquake3 ed è fornito solo il codice del server). Non fanno niente di che, accedono ai settaggi basicissimi quali armi, flags sulle armi, danno delle armi, settaggi vari su danno delle armi e danno ricevuto.
